Aim

To train learners to a professionally competent level, enabling them to design an individualised programme for pre and post natal clients.

To develop an understanding of the physical and biomechanical changes that take place during pregnancy and the key health and safety considerations for pre and postnatal clients taking part in physical activity.

To apply appropriate training approaches to and design programmes for pre and Post Natal Clients

Target Learners

  • Adults (aged 16+) wishing to pursue a career in the health and fitness sector as a Sports Coach or Fitness Instructor

Please note that 16-18 year olds may need to be surpervised in the workplace once they have achieved the qualification.

Entry Requirements

Learners must either hold a Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing Gym, Aqua or Exercise to Music or Level 2 Group Training) or one of the qualifications listed below:

  • Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Teaching Yoga.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Instructing Pilates Matwork.

The course requires physical exertion and individual participation is essential, therefore a degree of physical fitness is necessary.

Qualification Structure

This qualification comprises of 2 units:

  • Unit 1 – Physical activity, health and nutritional considerations for pre and postnatal clientsM/617/2148
  • Unit 2 – Programming safe and effective exercise sessions for pre and postnatal clientsT/617/2149

Successful completion of these two units is necessary to achieve  the full qualification.
